The City of Laredo Health Department Honors World Cancer Day By Accepting New Patients for Women’s Health Services

image006Laredo, TX –The City of Laredo Health Department wants to advise the public that we are currently accepting new patients for Women’s Health Services in particular for Family Planning, Cancer Screening, Maternity and Sexually Transmitted Diseases services. In observance of World Cancer Day we want to increase awareness on prevention and early detection.

 

Our women’s health services in particular through family planning provides preventive care assuring that we detect early any potential of breast and cervical cancer, this is important since we still have a disparity of cervical cancer and we can take measures to prevent. Therefore we want to remind the public that to reduce cancer we must: Stop Smoking, Increase HPV vaccinations, get annual check-ups and screening (breast exams, pap smears, colon screening) and appropriate maternal child health and family planning services.   If persons do not have insurance they may qualify for free or reduced care through our Title V Women’s Health, Primary Care (La Familia) or Title X Family Planning services (walk-ins accepted)

 

Services are confidential, preventative health care to females, males and adolescents. We strive to assist women and their families with professional and quality reproductive health and wellness needs to promote positive birth outcomes and healthy families. Services available include women’s health comprehensive checkups (exams, blood pressure, glucose, and immnizations), family planning methods, cancer early detection screening, laboratory testing, sexually transmitted disease and HIV testing, exams and treatment, health education, case management, women’s health and nutrition counseling.

Our Maternity Program (must qualify) provides prenatal care, case management and women’s wellness and preventive health care services for pregnant women and their children. Other services such as postpartum care, well child and dental care for children and adolescents are available as well.  Individual client eligibility is determined, to verify if you are eligible for services free of charge or at a reduced cost, please visit us at 2600 Cedar Avenue or call us for an appointment and verity what documents you may need (Medicaid and some private insurances are accepted).
