Judge Cuellar Will Perform Free Mass Valentine’s Day Wedding

(Laredo, TX ) City of Laredo Municipal Court Judge Rosie Cuellar will perform a free mass wedding ceremony on Saturday, February 14, 2015, Valentine’s Day, at the Municipal Court Courthouse for couples who wish to profess their love for each other by joining themselves in legal matrimony. The ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. and will be performed in both English and Spanish.
In order to participate, please come by the Municipal Court, located at 4610 Maher Avenue Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in order to sign up. The last day to register for the mass wedding will be Monday, February 9, 2015.
Participants are required to have a marriage license, which must be obtained 72 hours before their ceremony, with a few exceptions.
The deadline doesn’t apply to active-duty military members; those with certificates showing they completed a state-approved premarital education course; and those with a judge’s order waiving the 72-hour waiting period.
The licenses can be requested with Webb County Clerk Margie Ramirez Ibarra in the Webb County Justice Center, at 1110 Victoria Street, 2nd floor, for a fee of $84. Both applicants must bring proof of identity and age and must provide a Social Security number, if any.
After the free wedding ceremony, Judge Cuellar will sign the licenses and will have them ready within a week so the couples may file them at the County Clerk’s office. If anyone has any questions, please call Andrea Sanchez at (956) 794-1680, ext 1683.
“While my daily duties consist of enforcing the municipal laws of our city, presiding over marriage ceremonies is one aspect of my role as judge that I am honored to be able to perform and look forward to most,” said Judge Cuellar.
