Car Chase leads to marijuana and suspect arrest

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – A traffic stop by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office ends with a chase and bundles of marijuana.
The driver of a vehicle that led authorities on a chase Christmas Eve was arrested Monday afternoon. Deputies attempted to stop the Chevy Impala driven by Jose Luis Juarez Jr., 21, at the intersection of Mangana Hein and Cuatro Vientos Road after he disregarded the stop sign. During the pursuit, deputies noticed the driver was throwing out marijuana wrapped in black rectangular bundles. The vehicle finally came to a stop by a creek on Moon Lane and Corrada Avenue where the suspect took off on foot. A total of two bundles were recovered, weighing more than 30 pounds.
Juarez was arrested on several warrants, including Possession of Marijuana, Evading Arrest Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, and Reckless Driving. He was released from the Webb County Jail on a $63,000 bond.
