CBP Officers at the Laredo Port of Entry Arrest Three in Connection to Liquid Meth and Cocaine Seizures Valued at $7.5 Million

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized $7.5 million in liquid methamphetamine and cocaine at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge in two separate enforcement actions over the course of the weekend.
“This is another example of the enforcement mindset and dedication from our CBP officers,” said Acting Port Director Joseph Misenhelter, Laredo Port of Entry. “I am very pleased with all of their efforts which resulted in the interception of these hard narcotics.”
The most recent seizure occurred on Dec. 6, when a CBP officer referred a 1995 Ford pick-up truck driven by a 29-year-old male U.S. citizen from Orlando, Florida for a secondary examination. An intensive inspection of the pick-up truck by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 151 pounds of liquid meth allegedly concealed within the vehicle.
The other interception took place on Dec. 5 when CBP officers referred and inspected a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu occupied by two female U.S. citizens, ages 40 and 64, from Gatesville, Texas. CBP officers discovered anomalies within the vehicle which led them to the discovery of 27 packages allegedly containing 84 pounds of cocaine.
CBP officers seized both vehicles in connection with the seizures along with the methamphetamines and cocaine which have an estimated street value of $4.8 million and $2.6 million, respectively. All three subjects were arrested by CBP officers and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
CBP’s Laredo Port of Entry is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
