Couple indicted for the murder of 3-year-old girl

(Laredo, Tx)-The office of the District Attorney announces the indictment of Cristian Yepez, 24, and Janette Pantoja, 20, for murdering a 3-year-old girl in mid-August in a local hotel room. Both defendants are charged with murder, injury to a child, both first degree felonies, and tampering with evidence, a third degree felony in the state of Texas.
On Wednesday, September 10, 2014, Janette Pantoja came forward to detectives from the Houston Police Department about the case confessing that her boyfriend, Cristian Yepez, had killed her 3-year-old daughter in Laredo, Texas. Houston police brought Pantoja to Laredo to meet with detectives from the police department. She provided specific details about the incident stating that Yepez had killed her daughter by beating her in the hotel restroom of Monterrey Inn. Pantoja and Yepez drove the body to a construction site north of the city to bury the body. Pantoja led police to the location where the child’s remains were.
Pantoja was arrested on September 11, 2014, while Yepez was transported from Houston and detained in Webb County on August 16, 2014.
The case was presented to a grand jury in the 406th District Court before Judge Oscar J. Hale Jr.
