(Laredo, Tx)-On the morning of November 20, Alexander high school students, including the Mighty Bulldog Band, Dazzlers, Air Force ROTC, cheerleaders, basketball team and Anime Club hosted a Meet in The Middle (MIM) parade on the campus grounds. MIM is an effort spearheaded by Special Olympics to promote acceptance and inclusion of students with and without intellectual disabilities. The parade is one of many Districtwide activities that creates a unifying and interactive environment for all.

The energetic procession was followed by a gathering in the campus library where Saul Campillo, a 1998 graduate of Alexander high school, shared some inspiring words. Campillo has participated in Special Olympics since he was very young, and currently participates in track & field and bowling. He also dedicates some of his time to serving the Special Olympics Games Committee, Athlete Leadership Program, and is a Global Messenger for Special Olympics.

Campillo is also the recipient of The Volunteer Making A Difference in the Lives of Others Awards from the City of Laredo for two consecutive years (2013-2014). In May of 2014 he received the Male Athlete of the Year Award from Special Olympics Texas.
