Sheriff’s Department Makes Arrest

Laredo, TX (Webb County) –The Webb County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit, with the assistance of the department of Homeland Security Investigations, on Thursday arrested a Laredoan on child pornography charges.
Following the investigation, a federal search warrant was executed at a home in the 3600 block of Nubes Drive, location where Oscar Herrera, 41, was arrested. Herrera told authorities that for the past year, he has been downloading child pornography onto his computer and also is in possession of several DVD’s.
Since the inception of Operation Child Guardian in 2009, more than 40 child predators have been taken off the streets.
“These individuals who are suspected and found to be in the possession of child pornography will be arrested,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “We take these investigations very seriously and will continue to be on the lookout for any and all child predators.”
Herrera was remanded without bond to the Webb County Jail.
