Sheriff’s Office Deputies Intercept Marijuana, Heroin at Jail

 Laredo, TX (Webb County)In two separate incidents Wednesday and Thursday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies intercepted a small dosage of marijuana and a small amount of heroin intended to make its way into the Webb County Jail.

luisIn the first incident reported early Wednesday morning, Laredo Police Department initially brought Luis Antonio Muñoz, 31, on evading arrest charges. However, during intake procedures, correctional officers found a small amount of marijuana hidden in his body.

 Martinez was additionally charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility. He was released from the Webb County Jail on a combined bond of $10,000.

dianaDuring the second incident, reported Thursday at 10:50 a.m., Laredo Police brought Diana Dolores Tristan, 27, on theft charges. However, during intake procedures, correctional officers found six needles filled with a substance that tested positive for cocaine. Tristan was additionally charged with possession of a prohibited substance inside a correctional facility.

 She remains at the Webb County Jail in lieu of a $500 bond on the theft charge and without bond on the prohibited substance inside a correctional facility charge.

 Sheriff Martin Cuellar on Thursday afternoon lauded the work of the correctional officers and thanked them for their keen interest in safeguarding the wellbeing of the jail inmates.

 “These two occurrences are a true reflection of the fine men and women we have working at the Webb County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Cuellar. “They take pride in their job and are willing to go the extra mile while on duty.”
