Early Thursday morning, the deputies approached two individuals seen leaving the home at the intersection of Espejo Molina and Morales near Kennedy Zapata Elementary in El Cenizo. Upon further investigation, deputies learned that one of the individuals, 29-year-old Joe Chavira, had an arrest warrant for theft out of Harris County.
Chavira also admitted to carrying crack cocaine hidden inside his sock wrapped in aluminum foil.
The suspect remains at the Webb County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, a felony charge. A $2,500 bond was set for the theft warrant along with a $2,851 cash bond for multiple traffic violations. Chavira will be extradited to Harris County.
