Laredo, TX – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Laredo Lemurs starting pitcher Sean Tracey and second baseman Travis Denker has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week and Hitter of the Week, respectively for the week ending on May 25. This is the first time in Laredo Lemurs history that they have claimed both the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week at the same time.

Tracey made his first two starts of the season for the Lemurs this week and earned a pair of victories. On Monday, May 19, he threw six and 1/3 innings at home against the Winnipeg Goldeyes and allowed only one run on two hits with six strikeouts. The Lemurs went on to win 7-3. Five days later on Saturday, May 24, Tracey logged seven innings of work in a road start at the Grand Prairie AirHogs. He again allowed only one run in his outing, surrendering five hits and striking out three while walking none as the Lemurs rolled to a 14-1 win. Overall, his record sits at 2-0 with an ERA of 1.35.

Tracey is in his second season with the Lemurs, having joined the team in August 2013. When he joined the Lemurs, it marked the first time he had pitched in the United States since 2009. Tracey appeared in seven games at the Major League level with the Chicago White Sox in 2006, culminating a five-year stay in the White Sox system.

Denker picked up hits in five of his six games this week, going 10-for-24 (.417). Denker had four doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs in games against the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Grand Prairie AirHogs. He registered a pair of three-hit games during the week – a 3-for-5 night against the Goldeyes on Monday and another 3-for-5 game against the AirHogs Saturday evening. He homered and knocked in four runs in both games. Denker also had a 2-for-5 game on Friday against the AirHogs, where his hits were a double and a home run. Laredo won four games this week, including both contests in which Denker went 3-for-5.

On the season, Denker is hitting .350 with 17 RBIs and five home runs. The Brea, California resident is in his 12th season of professional baseball, third in independent baseball, and first with the Lemurs. He played the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League.
