Laredo announces May 12 fan event

LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Heat will offer their fans a first glimpse of its full team on Wednesday with a Meet and Greet and open practice at the Texas A&M International Soccer Complex. The 10th anniversary welcome kicks off at 6 p.m. with a chance to meet the players, coaches and staff.

The Meet and Greet offers an opportunity to stand face-to-face with Heat veterans and newcomers alike. Autographs will be signed and pictures opportunities will be available while free food, drinks, beer and door prizes from official Laredo Heat sponsors will be offered.

The Laredo Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance to help the Heat celebrate their 10th anniversary season. Since their creation in 2004, the Heat have qualified for postseason play each of the nine years they qualified. They’ve appeared in four PDL Finals, winning the championship in 2007.

The team holds an 88-34-28 with six Mid-South Division titles.

Immediately following the Meet and Greet, a unique open practice will be held – allowing supporters and Laredoans a chance to see what goes into the team’s preparation just days before competitive action.

The Heat open competitive play on May 14 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup’s second round against the winner of a first round meeting between the Red Force and Colorado Rovers. Three days later, on May 17, the Heat open Premier Development League play against the Houston Dutch Lions.

Both games kick off at 8 p.m. at the TAMIU Soccer Complex.
