Throughout 2014, official travel magazine of Texas shares readers’ favorite places to visit
AUSTIN, TX— In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Texas Highways magazine announced another round of the Texas Top 40 favorite destinations as chosen by its readers.
The announcement places Dallas/Fort Worth at No. 31. Also making the Top 40 list were Garner State Park (30), Lockhart (29) and Possum Kingdom Lake (28).
The March issue features the story of Hillington Ranch in Kendall County, where one family has survived and thrived since 1885; bison herds at Caprock Canyons State Park; what’s new (and old) in Fort Worth; a weekend in Granbury, where Jesse James is rumored to have died; and the famous Rao’s King Cake, a Beaumont tradition since 1941.
Other March issue highlights include the Heard Natural Science Museum in McKinney, with its 289 acres and six nature trails; First Monday Trade Days in Canton, where folks have been finding treasures for 160 years; and the eight-acre, interactive Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arboretum.
