El Metro will only Accept One Dollar Bills

(Laredo, TX )- In order to provide improved customer service and quicker boarding time, El Metro buses will now only accept ($1) one dollar bills and U.S. coins to ride the bus. Effective February 1, 2014, El Metro’s fareboxes will no longer accept any bills larger than ($1) one dollar on the buses or vans. El Metro buses and vans are equipped with electronic GFI fareboxes to collect the fare when passengers board the bus and paying with only ($1) one dollar bills will be an added convenience to our passengers and will also reduce change card problems.
