CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Arrest Fugitive Wanted for Hit and Run that Claimed a Nine-Year-Old in San Antonio

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry apprehended a man wanted in connection with a hit in run incident that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl in San Antonio.
“Our frontline CBP officers maintained their vigilance and through the utilization of national law enforcement databases they confirmed an active warrant in a tragic, fatal hit and run incident that claimed a child’s life in San Antonio,” said Jose R. Uribe, Acting Port Director, Laredo. “It is this unflinching dedication to the CBP mission by our officers that helps keep our border communities safe.”
The fugitive apprehension occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Gateway to the Americas Bridge. A CBP officer at primary inspection referred pedestrian Isidro Espinoza Solis, a 39-year-old male resident alien from San Antonio, Texas who presented no identity or citizenship documents for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers verified Espinoza Solis’s identity, citizenship and confirmed he was wanted by San Antonio Police Department on an outstanding state warrant for failure to stop and render aid with serious bodily injury/death in connection with a hit and run incident involving a nine-year-old girl. After confirming the warrant was active, CBP officers transported Espinoza Solis to Webb County jail for adjudication of the warrant.
