PHOTO RECAP: Laredo’s Newest Ambassadors Become Official

(Laredo, Tx)-City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas was looking for Laredo’s most passionate and proud citizens to participate in the inaugural Ambassador program, to help welcome visitors to the community and represent the very best of our fair city.
“What better way to welcome guests to Laredo, Texas than with a group of friendly Laredo volunteer ambassadors,” said Mayor Salinas.
Mayor Salinas, Deputy City Manager Cynthia Collazo, Blasita Lopez, CVB Director and the CVB staff as they officially welcomed the City of Laredo’s six newest ambassadors.
Since the program’s inception in February, there have been 25 applicants wishing to become Laredo Ambassadors. These six recipients included: Enrique T. De La Garza; Mily Fernandez; Priscilla Ferreryo; Monica Salazar; Cruz M. Vargas; and David “Kash” Vasquez received their official awards of completion and their attire outfitting them for success sp they can represent the City of Laredo at select events and special occasions. Currently, 13 have completed the process and two applications are still under review. The Inaugural year of the program has been completed.
As Laredo Ambassadors, representatives will work hand-in-hand with City officials and the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau. The mission of this program is to have friendly and knowledgeable guides who can assist not only visitors, but also locals alike with directions and suggestions to restaurants, museums, shops, hotels, and other attractions.
All potential participants must apply, submit to a screening process and go through the Laredo CVB Destination Training program. The free one-day (8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) training includes a guided tour given by the Webb County Heritage Foundation in the heart of downtown Laredo, followed by a tour of Laredo Community College and the Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Center along with visits to other key attractions. A city official will also be hopping on to the motor coach to bring participants up to speed on the latest developments within Laredo.
