(Laredo, Tx)-As secondary schools begin another year, juniors and seniors will have an opportunity to set their sights on the future. With this in mind, Texas A&M International University will host United ISD’s College Fair on Wednesday, October 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at their University Success Center, located at 5201 University Boulevard.
The United ISD College Fair is for all juniors, seniors and their parents. Representatives from over 50 colleges will be on hand to answer questions and offer suggestions. High school students interested in attending college will be offered information on registration, admissions, tuition and fees, residence life, housing and academic programs.
Additionally, general information on grants, loans and other student funding will be available. Representatives from all branches of military service will also set up information booths. It is anticipated the College Fair will draw large numbers of college-bound students from United ISD, Laredo ISD, St. Augustine High School, Bruni, Mirando City, Hebbronville and Zapata. College Fair coordinators are from United ISD, Laredo ISD and Texas A&M International University.
In order to maximize the College Fair experience, it is suggested that students (and their parents) consider these tips:
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Write down any questions before leaving home so that nothing is forgotten.
Arrive as early as possible so there will be plenty of time to visit with as many representatives as possible.
Have a small pad or notebook handy to take additional notes.
Gather information, including mailing cards to send off to the school to establish contact.
Christine Flores, United ISD Director of Guidance and Counseling, encourages students and their parents to attend the fair.“This College Fair is a great opportunity for students to gather information and ask important questions”, said Flores.
