Photo Recap: Texas Railroad Commission Recognizes City of Laredo for CNG Use, Grant Award

(Laredo, Tx)-District VII Council Member Jorge Vera, filling in for Mayor Raul G. Salinas who arrived late on friday after an emergency dental procedure, and City Manager Carlos Villarreal, welcomed Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter to the City of Laredo to receive a check for $50,000 for the purchase of 25 light duty natural gas vehicles. The City of Laredo has been a leader in the state of Texas in converting their regular fleet and transit busses to compressed natural gas, or CNG, since 1992.
Commissioner Porter noted that the Texas Railroad Commission is encouraging municipalities, businesses and Texans to find alternative fuel options for transportation and commended the City of Laredo for their dedication to the project.
