(Laredo, Tx)-Kristine Elizabeth Meza, a Laredo native, United High School graduate and nursing student at San Antonio College, lost her life when she fell victim to an act of domestic violence on February 11, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas In Meza’s memory, her family established The Kristine E. Meza Memorial Foundation. This non-profit organization was initiated to inform communities and schools about domestic violence, raise money, assist local women’s shelters and award scholarships to students in need. Her cousins, Selma Gonzalez and Nitza Gonzalez recently shared Kristine’s story with United South High School students.
Selma and Nitza are deeply committed to their mission which is to make a positive difference for victims to may be suffering in silence. “It is important to share Kristine’s story with as many people as possible because what happened to her has happened to her has also happened to many others. Selma and I talk about domestic violence and its impact on our family in the hope that it will save lives in the future ”said Nitza Gonzalez.
