(Laredo, Tx)-This September, United Middle School combined their third annual Scholastic Book Fair with Grandparents Day. Over 300 family members enjoyed sweetbread and coffee at a reception in the cafeteria before walking to the campus library. The occasion gave Grandparents an opportunity to visit the campus and interact with their students as they reviewed literary additions to the school library. Selika Salinas, United Middle School Librarian said that Grandparents play a major role in children’s lives. “Grandparents are looked up to for their wisdom and they can use their positive influence to encourage children to seek knowledge through good reading and studying habits,” Salinas said.
