LISD to offer Adult Literacy classes

Laredo Independent School District’s Bilingual Education Department will once again be offering free Adult Literacy classes for parents of LISD students who are interested in speaking English as a second language. Classes will begin Tuesday, September 30.
Classes will be held weekly, on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Martin, Nixon and Cigarroa High Schools. Parents may register from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, September 25 – Friday, September 28, at their respective campuses.
The classes will focus on the basics of the English language, civics, history, computer technology and family issues. Childcare for children 6-12 years old will be provided.
To be eligible for enrollment into the Adult Literacy classes, a parent must reside in LISD and have a child enrolled in LISD schools.
