Lemurs Back in First after Beating Diablos

lemursLaredo, TX – Laredo Lemurs newcomer Tyler Pearson was strong on the mound leading his team to an 8-4 victory over the El Paso Diablos on Wednesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium. 

Tyler Pearson, fresh off a strong stint with the San Rafael Pacific’s, started the game for the Lemurs and gave up a run in the first innings.  After that, Pearson settled in and shut down the Diablos over the next five frames.  Pearson would give up one more run in the seventh before being relieved by Jon Jones in the eighth. 

For the night Pearson went seven, giving up two runs, on nine hits, with three walks, and six strikeouts to earn his first win of the 2013 season in the American Association. 

The Lemurs offense scattered runs throughout the night with the big blow coming off the bat of catcher Brian Peterson in the third.  Peterson hit the first pitch he saw belting it over the left field wall with John Allen at first base to give the Lemurs a 5-1 lead after three.  

Diablos starter Jacob Reding took the loss in his first start, going six, giving up seven runs, on nine hits, with three walks, and three strikeouts. 

The Lemurs win puts them a half game up over the Grand Prairie Airhogs and the Amarillo Sox for first place in the American Association South Division race.  The Airhogs will in Laredo starting Thursday night for a four game stint with the Lemurs as they battle over first place.
