On thursday June 27th police officers were dispatched to a Whataburger restaurant located on W. Del Mar Blvd. for an assault in progress call. Upon arrival the officers were met by the victim, a male 18 years old, who had a bloodied face and stated to officers that he got assaulted while sitting down at a table. The victim along with two of his friends were inside the restaurant, some unidentified male subject came into the restaurant and just started a conversation with them. That unidentified male subject was intoxicated. The victim was sitting down waiting for his order with his two friends.
Then for unknown reasons, the male subject wanted to start a fight. They all ignored him so out of frustration the suspect just lashed out on the victim. The male subject then asked the victim, “You think you can treat me like your toy” after which he started to punch the victim in the face.
The subject punched the victim about three times then fled the scene. The victim suffered severe facial trauma and a face fracture as a result of the assault. The unidentified male subject was with another male and female couple in a greenish Chevy Silverado truck with a big front brush guard. They all got in the truck and fled the scene down Sprinfield Ave.
The officers were unable to locate the suspect’s truck. There was no other information or description on the suspect. There was a picture that was taken of the suspect before the assault. Anyone with any information of the identity of the suspect is asked to call The Laredo Police Department at 795-2800 or contact Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS where depending on the information given leading to an arrest may qualify the caller for a reward of up to $1,000.
