Alexander Students Ready to Compete at State Level

(Laredo, Tx)-Alexander High School students Ayeesha Mohammed and Martin Martinez have been selected to participate in the South Texas Zone Swim Team. The team will travel to Greenville, South Carolina to compete at the Southern Zone Championships from July 30th thru August 4th. Swimmers from 13 Southern states including Florida, North and South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas will be competing. All participants at this meet are selected based on their long course season performances and success.
This is Ayeesha’s second year at the Zone. She swims for Laredo Nadadores. Martin swims for the Laredo Tritons Swim Club and this is his first Zone meet.
“We are very proud of our swimmers achievements and fortunate to have such great athletes in our UISD Aquatics Program, which is comprised swimmers from the four U.I.S.D. high schools” stated Maritza D. Gomez, Assistant Aquatics Director for U.I.S.D., who will also be traveling with the team.
In addition, Coach Abdul Mohammed of the Laredo Tritons and Nadadores Swim Clubs has been selected as a South Texas Zone Coach. He will be coaching the South Texas Team at the Championships in Greenville.
