Former LPD Officer Arrested for Aggravated Assault

On May 22, 2013 the Laredo Police Department received a call of an alleged assault by a residence on the 700 E. Frost where a 23 year old female victim alleged that she was assaulted by Daniel Villarreal Jr., age 23. That evening an assault report was taken and evidence was collected. Villarreal was not on scene at the place of the assault but was later located at a different location. He was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
The case was turned over to the Special Investigations Unit of the Laredo Police Department who followed up the investigation. The evidence and findings in the case were turned over to the District Attorney’s office where an arrest warrant was granted and charged for Daniel Villarreal Jr. with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injuries (Hands, Fists, and Feet) Felony 2. Daniel Villarreal Jr. was brought to the Laredo Police Headquarters and served with the arrest warrant and taken to jail under a $50,000 bond.
Daniel Villarreal’s service, probationary employee, as a police officer was terminated from the Laredo Police Department.
