(Laredo, Tx)- Students at “Kazenopolis,” a small city inside Kazen Elementary, recently celebrated the grand opening of their “minitropolis” with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on January 31, 2013. Kazenopolis is structured like a functioning city within the school and features an IBC bank, HEB, Post Office, a Visitor’s Center and Broadcasting System, Food Bank, and a U.S. Border Patrol agency. It’s a student-run city where students learn a number of life lessons such as writing checks, depositing money, applying for a job, working together in a community, among other important life-long skills. Special thanks to IBC, HEB, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the City of Laredo , for working with the campus to help make Kazenopolis a success!
