Aggravated Assault

On 01-03-09 at approximately 10:29 p.m., Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of San Dario Avenue for a traffic accident.  Upon arrival, officers met with the driver and her boyfriend who was bleeding from the mouth.  The driver stated to authorities that while she and her boyfriend were parked in the Conoco parking lot, located by San Dario and Park, in a white Dodge Stratus when a Jeep Cherokee driven by known suspects blocked them in.  One suspect exited the Cherokee holding a bat and consequently broke the right rear window to the 2001 Chevy Malibu that the victim was operating.  For fear of serious imminent bodily injury, the driver accelerated in an attempt to elude the assailants.  Eventually, the victim sped off north bound on San Dario while the assailants gave chase.  During the chase, the Jeep Cherokee repeatedly collided into the rear bumper of the Malibu.  As a result of the chase, the victim lost control of her vehicle as she attempted to turn east onto Garden Street and collided into a light pole.  Pursuant to the collision, the suspects fled the scene.  The victim’s boyfriend, riding in the passenger side, was transported to the Laredo Medical Center (LMC) with broken teeth and possible internal injuries.

Later, Officers met with the injured passenger at the LMC ER who stated that he has had an ongoing feud with two brothers (suspects).  Victim explained that while he was off of his vehicle at the Conoco, one suspect approached him with a handgun at which point he ran into his vehicle.  As his girlfriend attempted to drive away, the other suspect brandished a baseball bat and smashed the right rear window.
