Downtown Crime Sweeps Continue

A Special Detail of Police Officers have been patrolling & enforcing illegal parking, city park curfew violations, and checking suspicious activities by the down town district. These enforcements are conducted where local night clubs/ bars are located:

Monday 10-20-08: issued 5 parking citations, 6 traffic stops were made & 7 suspicious suspects were investigated, issued 3 citations for curfew park violations, and one smuggling case turned over to Dept. of Homeland Security/ U.S. Border Patrol;

Tuesday, 10-21-08: issued 5 parking citations, 2 vehicles towed, checked 5 suspicious suspects, and one suspect turned over to Homeland/U.S. Border Patrol, issued one curfew park violation;

Wednesday, 10-22-08: issued 16 parking citations, 3 traffic stops & checked 3 suspicious suspects, one male suspect age 16, who is a known burglar, was arrested for Possession of a Criminal Instrument & Debit Card Abuse with case# 08-37217;

Thursday, 10-23-08: issued 14 parking citations, one vehicle was towed , and one curfew park violation issued;

Friday, 10-24-08: issued 19 parking citations, 3 vehicles were towed, and one suspect cited for Violation of Open Container L-2396641.

Note: Officers have also been patrolling by during the closing hours of some bars to deter any fights, assaults, and robberies from occurring.
