                           Carjacking on Santa Ursula

On Sunday, March 15, 2009 at about 10:37 p.m., LPD received a call on a car- jacking by 2000 Santa Ursula, @ the Pump and Shop. Upon arrival officers made contact with the victims who stated someone had just stolen their 1998 White Mitsubishi Gallant. According to victims they arrived at the Conoco to put gas in their vehicle, the man left the car running while his wife was asleep inside the car. An unknown suspect jumped in the car and drove off with the wife still inside the car. The victim then woke up and tried to get away. As she opened the front passenger door, the suspect pushed her out of the vehicle as he was still driving. The victim sustained minor injuries. Officers from District 2 quickly covered bridges 1 and 2 as the call came in; the vehicle did not go into Mexico.

Within the past two weeks we’ve had a total of 4 carjacking. Two vehicles were taken after the victims gave their assailants a ride and the other two; the vehicles were taken by force immediately. In three of the cases suspects have a displayed a weapon.
