Downtown Prostitution Arrests

Downtown Enforcement Continues..

On Saturday, October 18, 2008, a Special Detail Unit Officers were diligently patrolling several night club/bars which are located by the 500 block of San Agustin Avenue. The officers cited & impounded six improperly vehicles which were parked on prohibited spaces before the bars closed.

Laredo Police Officers were also successful in arresting 2 suspects with Prostitution Class B Misdemeanor by the Rialto Hotel located on 1219 Matamoros Street. The Laredo Police Department had received a call on harassment from a complainant on said location. An investigation revealed that one male suspect Roberto Salazar voluntarily admitted that he was complaining that he had already paid for service and that other suspect Edwing Ahmed Alvarez was black mailing him for more money. Edwing Ahmed Alvarez, age 23, date of birth 10-12-85, from Laredo, Texas, and Roberto Salazar, age 27, date of birth 12-11-80, from Austin, Texas were arrested for Prostitution Class B Misdemeanor. Defendant Alvarez was additionally charged with Resisting Transportation Class B Misdemeanor. Later, both defendants were remanded to the Laredo Webb County Jail with no bond set by Justice of the Peace Hector Liendo. 08-36615
