On March 5, 2009 an assault report was filed with the Laredo Police Dept. in which a 13 yr. old female had been assaulted by a known female juvenile. Investigators spoke to the victim who stated that she was assaulted by a former friend, a 14 yr. old female, while at the park located on Zacate Creek and Bruni St. The victim informed that she was at the park with friends when her assailant arrived with her adult cousin and parents in a white Ford Expedition. The juvenile suspect assaulted the victim causing a black eye and bruising to the left side of the face. The follow up investigation with the juvenile assailant and her mother, Cruz Herlinda Quiroz, revealed that the juvenile assailant had had problems with the victim.
The assailant’s mother Cruz Herlinda Quiroz encouraged the assailant to take matters into her own hands and confront the victim. Mrs. Quiroz not knowing how to drive enlisted the help of her sister in law Sonia Valdez to drive the assailant juvenile, and Mrs. Quiroz to the park where the victim was located at. In addition the assailant’s cousin Yanika Valdez, also an adult, went along and got out of the vehicle with the juvenile assailant upon their arrival. Upon arriving at the park the juvenile suspect assaulted the victim causing injuries to the face.
Based on the information and the evidence collected warrants were issued for Cruz Herlinda Quiroz for the offenses of Endangering a Child SJF and Injury to a Child F /3. Warrants were issued for Sonia Valdez for the offenses of Endangering a Child SJF and Injury to a Child F/3. And a warrant was issued for Yanika Faride Valdez for Endangering a Child SJF.
On March 13, 2009 Cruz Herlinda Quiroz was arrested at her residence and served with outstanding warrants charging her with Endangering a Child SJF and Injury to a Child F/3. She was advised of her Miranda warnings and booked at the Laredo Police Dept after which she was held at the Webb Co. Jail under a total bond of $40,000.00 set by J.P. Oscar Liendo.
On March 13, 2009 Sonia Valdez was arrested and served with outstanding warrants charging her with Endangering a Child SJF and Injury to a Child F /3. She was advised of her Miranda warnings and booked at the Laredo Police Dept after which she was held at the Webb Co. Jail under a total bond of $40,000.00 set by J.P. Oscar Liendo.
On March 13, 2009 Yanika Valdez was arrested and served with an outstanding warrant charging her with Endangering a Child SJF. She was advised of her Miranda warnings and booked at the Laredo Police Dept after which she was held at the Webb Co. Jail under a $10,000.00 bond set by J.P. Oscar Liendo.
Also on March 13, 2009 the 14 yr. old female was detained at Memorial Middle School and charged with assault C/A. She was advised of her Miranda warnings and taken to the Webb Co. Juvenile Dept where she was held.
