When earlier this year, the city of Laredo was bashed by a non-native former Laredoan with a naive and ill-informed post on YouTube, it was the unlikeliest of persons who came to Laredo’s defense and became a hero across the community. LAREDO>TX – Please be advised that Ballenger Construction will be closing northbound State Loop (LP) 20 on May 17, 2012 from State Highway (SH) 359 to Maria Luis Drive between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM to facilitate the placement of bridge deck panels for the State Highway (SH) 359 Overpass Bridge.
Eastbound/Westbound/Southbound movements will be permitted through the intersection. The traveling public is asked to use alternate routes for heading northbound on State Loop (LP) 20.

TAMIU Celebrates Employees With Enrichment Day May 18

  Texas A&M International University employees will spend part the afternoon and part of the morning at the University’s annual TAMIU Enrichment Day, Friday, May 18 starting at 11:30 a.m.
   While University offices will remain open, staff and services will be greatly reduced.  The annual event is set aside to offer development sessions to all University employees under relaxed and fun-filled conditions.

Webb County Family Drug Treatment Court First Graduation

(Laredo, Tx)- What started out as a community based idea in the early fall of 2010 to assist families facing a specific challenge to insure their children’s safety has now come full circle from the planning stage to completion.  On Tuesday May 15th the Webb County Family Drug Treatment Court will host its first graduation of families who have completed the requirements of the court’s program to graduate.
