		<title>Commissioner Canales To Recognize Students</title>

(Laredo, Tx)- Webb County Commissioner Jaime Canales will be treating a group of students to an afternoon of bowling and  pizza as a reward for demonstrating good character and excelling in their academics. Many of these students are victims of poverty, drug addiction, and family violence.
For their efforts, Commissioner Canales will be taking approximately 45 students and staff to the Jett Bowl Wednesday, May 23.  The event starts at 11 a.m.

		<title>Robin Gibb, member of the Bee Gees, dies after battle with cancer</title>

(CNN) &#8212; Robin Gibb, one of three brothers who made up the group the Bee Gees behind &#8220;Saturday Night Fever&#8221; and other now-iconic sounds from the 1970s, died on Sunday, according to a statement on his website.
He was 62.
Gibb &#8220;passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery,&#8221; said the statement, which was attributed to his family. He died in England at 10:47 a.m. (5:47 a.m. ET), according to a post on his official Twitter feed.  (Read More)

		<title>LISD’s Rachel’s Challenge Celebration</title>

(Laredo, Tx)-Over 750 students from all LISD campuses will be participating today in a year-end celebration for participating in a yearlong anti-bullying campaign known as Rachel’s Challenge.  Students will gather at Shirley Field Stadium at 9:30a.m.  to present paper links that they have garnered throughout the school year for random acts of kindness. The students will also be releasing balloons in celebration of a very successful campaign.  Highlighting the event will be keynote speaker District Attorney Isidro “Chilo” Alaniz.

 Enterprises, a private contractor, will be working along Matamoros Street between San Eduardo Avenue and San Francisco Avenue from Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  This work will entail a sidewalk closure only.  They will be working on a bore along the sidewalk on Matamoros Street.
