(Laredo, Tx)- Former Webb County Judge Louis H. Bruni released a statement this afternoon officially kicking off his campaign for Webb County Commissioner Pct.1. The announcement comes comes just a few days after Bruni met with residents of South Laredo. He will face current Commissioner Frank Sciaraffa in the county elections next year. Commissioner Sciaraffa has held the seat for two terms and will face tough opposition from Bruni. Louis H. Bruni served two terms as a Laredo City Councilman representing District 2 from 1994 to 2002. Later that year he was elected Webb County Judge. Below is the official campaign announcement as released.

Webb County is facing some serious issues and it has been for quite some time. The best way to start moving in a positive direction is to roll up our sleeves and get back to the basic fundamentals of honest and transparent government. Taxpayers deserve a voice and they must be kept well informed about all county matters. It is for these very reasons that I am announcing my candidacy for Webb County Commissioner Pct.1. “As your County Commissioner, I will serve and protect the hard working tax payers of precinct 1. as your commissioner, I will bring accountability and an open door policy for all. I will restore honesty and integrity to the office of County Commissioner.” These are tough times for all and we need serious leadership to step up and represent those that need it most. No special interests, no special favors…..just good, clean, progressive government”. Many of you know my family and its history of helping the community. Webb County Officials Sworn into Office

Laredo-Tx, Recently Elected and Re-Elected Webb County Officials took their oaths of office Saturday January 1st in over crowded standing room only fashion with ceremonies filled with family and supporters. Most of the ceremonies took place downtown Webb County Judge Danny Valdez and Commissioners Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina and incoming Commissioner Jaime Canales had their ceremonies at the Webb County Court House other public servants took their oaths of office at the Webb County Justice Center. Justice of the Peace Ricardo Rangel and Justice of the Peace Ramiro Veliz Jr. had their oaths administered at the Jesus “Chuy” Salazar Justice Building in South Laredo. Webb County Public Servants who were sworn in are the following: Justice of the Peace Alfredo Garcia, Justice of the Peace Ricardo Rangel, Justice of the Peace Ramiro Veliz Jr, Justice of the Peace Oscar Liendo, Justice of the Peace Oscar Martinez, Webb County Judge Danny Valdez, Webb County Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina, Webb County Commissioner Jaime Canales, Webb County Treasurer Delia Perales, Webb County Clerk Margie Ibarra, Webb County District Clerk Eshther Degollado, 111th District Judge Monica Notzon, County Court at Law 2 Judge Jesus “Chuy” Salazar, County Court at Law 1 Judge Ben Morales, and 49th District Court Judge Joe Lopez. He is married his wife of 27 years Cori V. Arechiga who is a local educator together they have raised two daughters who are currently attending The University of Texas in Austin. Mr. Arechiga is a 1977 graduate of United High School he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 1984. Juan Caballero will Host Bowling Tournament May 25th

Associate Municipal Court Judge Juan Caballero will be hosting a Bowling Tournament on May 25, 2010 at the Jett Bowl North on McPherson Ave. Registration fee is only $25 per person with teams consisting of five members. The United South Silver Steppers Booster Club Needs Your Help

(Laredo, Tx) The United South Silver Steppers Booster Club needs your help to raise money for their trip to Galveston, Tx in which they will compete in the Nationals Competition against other students fromt he State of Texas. The competition will be held on March 27th & 28th, 2010. They recently held a plate sale to raise some of the funds. The girls have been working year round to reach their goal of $30,000 which covers the costumes, travel expenses, and hotel accomodations. We are having a Steak Plate Sale Saturday April 10th 2010 at O’reillys Auto Parts corner of Guadalupe and Tilden for Little Ruth Dalila Martinez 10 years of age whom has been stricken with Leukemia. The Plate Sale will run from 11:00 a.m. thru 3:00 p.m. The Plates are going for $5. All monies will go towards medical assistance for the little lady. Thanks for your participation.
