Laredo PD Hosted International Exchange Student through an Internship Program.

(Laredo, Tx)-An international exchange student named Shane Horgan from the University College Cork, in Ireland recently completed a full two summer term internship with the Laredo Police Department.  The student was assigned to various divisions within the Laredo PD and was given unique supervised access to the development of criminal cases and investigations.  Mr. Horgan in his own words describes his experience;

Laredo Police ATF Task Force Officers and ATF Arrest a Felon for Possession of a Firearm.

(Laredo, Texas)- Laredo ATF agents and Laredo Police Officers working as ATF Task Force Officers arrested Ruben “Coco” Ibarra in Laredo, Texas on a bench warrant on a Federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.  The charge is alleged to have occurred on February 28, 2011, at a bar located at the 4600 block of San Bernardo according to the indictment rendered by a Brownsville grand jury just three days before.  If convicted of possessing the Glock 9mm pistol, Ibarra faces up to 10 years …

LPD Narcotics Division Bust Local Drug House

 On August 9th, members of the Laredo Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received information that bundles of marijuana were being stored at a residence at the 5000 block of Moncayo.  Surveillance was immediately set up on this residence.  On the second day of surveillance at approximately 10:00 am., a white Cadillac Escalade truck was observed arriving at said location.  The driver exited the vehicle and met with a male subject from inside the residence later identified as Jose Guadalupe Juarez.

Mexican Authorities turn over a Wanted Fugitive to US Law Enforcement

At approximately 1p.m. Mexican authorities turned over Wenceslao Tovar Jr. to U.S. Marshal’s custody.  He is being held in Federal custody on outstanding federal charges. He was transported to the Laredo Police Department for processing. He is also pending the outstanding warrants from a 2005 case which include charges of Murder, Aggravated kidnapping, and Engaging in organized criminal activity.  Mexican Military located Tovar somewhere in the country of Mexico and then transported him to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico for extradition to the United States.

LPD Narcotics Seizes 40 lbs of Marijuana

On Tuesday July 19th, at approximately 1:56 p.m. Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted the Laredo Police Patrol Division, conducted a search by consent by the 3000 block of Wooster.  A total of 40 pounds of marijuana were seized and subjects Roberto Diaz Mena and Raul Diaz Mena , of Laredo Texas were arrested for Possession of Marijuana F/3. The seizure came after a multi-day surveillance of the home in where possible narcotics activity was noticed.

Good Samaritan Returns Laptop

Late tuesday afternoon the woman who was featured in a press release this week came voluntarily to the Laredo Police Department and returned the laptop that was found at the Laredo International Airport.  The Good Samaritan explains that due to the late flight that Sunday the airport terminal emptied out and she could not find anyone to return the laptop to.  The owner of the property was contacted and received his property from the young couple who were happy to reunite the owner with his laptop. LPD Seeks Identity of a Person of Interest

No Charges Pending Just Wanted for Questioning

The Laredo Police Department needs to identify a woman seen arriving at the Laredo International Airport.  The woman is seen on surveillance footage taking a laptop in its case. On Sunday July 17, 2011 the owner left the case by accident near a car rental area of the airport and would like to get it back.  The woman is just wanted for questioning and no criminal charges are being sought in this case, just the return of the property.  If anyone has …

Tailgate Thief Arrested

On Sunday June 26, 2011 at approximately 11:44PM Officer were dispatched to 700 Puig for a reported crime in progress. Communications advised via radio that the female caller advised she observed a blue Chevy pickup with loud mufflers leaving the scene. The caller advised PD that a male subject had stole her husband’s Ford F250 tailgate. At this point multiple officers immediately responded. LPD Narcotics and Vice Unit Arrest Eight Women for Prostitution

 On Wednesday June 29th,  members of the Laredo Police Department’s  Narcotics/Vice Unit, along with the Patrol Division worked a special detail on the west side of Laredo, primarily San Bernardo Avenue.  The objective was to locate, identify and arrest anyone soliciting prostitution.  Eight females were arrested for soliciting money for sex from an undercover Laredo Police Officer.  All females were arrested for prostitution C/B.

LPD Raid Shooting Star Casino

 On June 25, 2011 at approximately 12:05 am CAPROS Investigators executed a search warrant at the Shooting Star Amusement Center 4501 McPherson. A total of 132 mother boards were seized along with $ 14,529 USC. The investigation continues and arrests are pending. This investigation is a result of a multi-week investigation where undercover police officers were paid out in cash on numerous occasions.
