Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department would like to inform the public and all local business owners that service animals are not pets and by Federal law must be allowed into any business establishment (restaurants, hotels, grocery and department stores, hospitals and medical offices, and theaters, etc.).  According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) businesses and organizations that serve the public must allow persons with disabilities to bring their service animals into all areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go …

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated against Influenza A H1N1. The vaccine is safe, efficacious, and although H1N1 is still acting like seasonal “Flu” those at high risk can have serious complications. The best prevention method to reduce the risk of illness is preventive measures and vaccination.

 Laredo, TX — The City of Laredo Health Department is pleased to announce the arrival of its new state-of-the-art Communication and Response Trailer designed to enhance local public health emergency preparedness efforts throughout the State of Texas. 
The unit was designed by engineers at the non-profit Texas Association of Local Health Officials (TALHO), based out of Cedar Park, TX.  TALHO began design plans earlier this year for an initial production round of five Communication and Response Trailers.  The trailer arrived in Laredo in December 2009, and it will be fully …

Laredo, TX – With the National Weather Service forecasting extremely cold temperatures across the nation, including South Texas, the City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) would like to remind the public to take precautions against extreme cold.

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) in coordination with Doctors Hospital will host an Influenza A H1N1 Vaccine Clinic on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Doctors Hospital front lobby.  1000 vaccines are available and will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) is opening up the H1N1 vaccine supply to the general public.  With supplies increasing, we will be able to offer the vaccine to the general population (6 months and older), but to continue to ensure people in priority groups get the vaccine they need. Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) has not confirmed seasonal FLU yet but we are expecting it soon. Therefore we want everyone to take precautions. Although we do not have any more seasonal FLU vaccine for adults we do have limited seasonal FLU vaccine for children between 6 and 35 months and for older children 3 to 18 year olds.  The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine is $4.00.

H1N1 Vaccine Clinic Sunday, December 6, 2009

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) in conjunction with Laredo Medical Center will be hosting an H1N1 Vaccine Clinic on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Laredo Medical Center, Community Center, Tower B, 1st Floor.  2000 vaccines are available and will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.  There is no cost for the vaccine.
 The H1N1 vaccines will be administered to following priority groups:

Pregnant women
Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) is offering limited amounts of seasonal flu vaccine for children between 6 and 35 months.  The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine is $4.00.  H1N1 vaccine continues to be offered to the general public especially those considered at risk (pregnant women, children under 5, students and those with underlying health conditions) as long as supplies are available. In addition some physicians have both vaccines available.  The H1N1 vaccine is free of charge.
