(Laredo, Tx)-Sixty LISD librarians and librarian assistants were recognized at a proclamation and awards ceremony luncheon in celebration of National Library Week. During the awards luncheon, two LISD educators were selected Librarians of the Year. Irema Trevino of Santo Nino Elementary School and Gloria Saldivar of Christen Middle School Librarian, were presented with the top honors. The event was held at the Leyendecker Elementary School Library earlier this week.

(Laredo, Tx)-The Lady Horns invite you to their First Annual Basketball Tournament that will be held April 28th at the United High School Gym. The tournament is open to all grade levels and every team is guaranteed at least three games. Entry fee is only $150 per team. Trophies will be given out to the top teams in their respective divisions. Food will be provided for those competing and a sound system will provide music and entertainment.

LAREDO, TX – The Laredo Lemurs professional baseball team will be hosting their second tryouts at TAMIU – Jorge Haynes Field on Saturday, April 14th.
Players interested in participating must arrive no later than 9:00am to register for the tryouts. On-site registration will take place from 8:30 – 9:30 am with a one-time $50.00 per player fee (cash or check). Official tryouts to follow immediately at 10:00 am
Players making the team will be part of the Laredo Lemurs – who will start their inaugural season May 2012.

LAREDO, TX – The Laredo Lemurs professional baseball team will hold National Anthem Auditions on Saturday, April 14 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
This is an open tryout and an opportunity for fans to perform the National Anthem and earn a spot in the pre-game ceremonies for games at Uni-Trade Stadium this season. Those who pass the “judge’s test” will be scheduled to sing prior to a Lemurs 2012 home game.

This week, City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas has made several important proclamations this week, highlighting the important work of some local organizations.
Salinas, along with Webb County Judge Danny Valdez, welcomed the Children’s Advocacy Center and SCAN to City Hall, to make two important proclamations: Sexual Abuse Awareness and Prevention and Child Abuse Awareness Month.

(Laredo, Tx)-Rudy Gonzalez a Certified Texas Police Officer, continues his quest to serve the citizens of Pct.2 as Webb County Constable. Gonzalez is currently a U.I.S.D. Police Officer and he is running to unseat Ricardo Rodriguez who was appointed to fill the position vacated by Ruben Reyes when he resigned last year.
