LISD Campus Crime Stoppers awarded grant For the fifth year in a row, Laredo ISD Campus Crime Stoppers was awarded a generous donation from the ConocoPhillips Corporation as part of the company’s efforts to contribute to the quality of life in the Laredo area. Recently at their annual Philanthropic Committee Grant luncheon, ConocoPhillips awarded $5,000 to LISD Crime Stoppers to help pay for the program’s 10 Hotlines which are utilized for tips at the secondary schools.  The Laredo Independent School District Campus Crime Stoppers was hailed as one of the best during their state convention. The organization competed with other districts in the state during the 16th annual Texas Campus Crime Stoppers Conference held in Odessa, Texas.

UISD Police Department Receives Vidmic Donation from Sheriff Martin Cuellar

Laredo, Texas – On Wednesday, January 12, 2011, The Webb County Sheriff’s Office donated twenty (20) Video – microphones, which are police microphones with the ability to take pictures as well as digitally record video and audio, to the United Independent School District (UISD) Police Department.  The donation of the vidmics was paid through the Webb County Sheriff’s Office forfeiture funds, which is money confiscated by Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies from their successful disruption of the illegal sale of illicit drugs.  This donation represents yet another …

Webb County Sheriff’s Office looking for Suspect in Murder Investigation

 Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Friday, July 9th, 2010, at approximately 4:30 p.m.,  Webb County Sheriff’s Investigators responded to a call at the 1500 block of Centeno Lane, in reference to a welfare concern of a local resident.  The call was made by family members after their failed attempts to communicate with their loved one. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased body of a Rio Bravo resident.

Sheriff’s Deputies Seize Marijuana Bundle Along with 22 Marijuana Baggies Ready for Distribution

 Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Thursday, June 17, 2010, at approximately 12 noon, Webb County Sheriff’s Office Crime Stoppers Division responded to a call regarding illegal activity at a Motel on the 2500 block of Saunders.  Upon arrival, Deputies discovered one bundle of marijuana along with 22 marijuana plastic baggies ready for distribution.  The marijuana had a weight of  14.3 pounds at an approximate street value of $7,099.  Arrested at the scene was Ruben Arce, 19, he was charged with possession of marijuana, felony 3.

Webb County Sheriff Deputy Successfully Arrests Fugitive Along With U.S Marshals Task Force

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – The Gulf Coast Violent offenders and Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF) in Laredo coordinated the apprehension and capture of Arturo Rodriguez, 23, a fugitive wanted by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated  robbery.  The warrant surfaced from 2 robbery  cases in 2009.

Public Asked to Help Locate Defendant

Prosecutors with the Special Victims Unit of the Office of the District Attorney are appealing to the public to assist in locating Edgar Gabriel Cerda (12/21/1968).  Cerda was scheduled to appear at the Webb County Justice Center yesterday for jury selection in his trial.  He is facing one count of Indecency with a Child by Contact, a second degree felony with a punishment range of two to twenty years in prison.
