(Laredo, Tx)- The Office of District Attorney Isidro R. Alaniz reports that a hearing on the motions took place yesterday morning in the capital murder trial of Jose Arredondo. Arredondo is charged with the murder and aggravated sexual assault of two year old Katherine Cardenas.
The majority of the morning was spent discussing the defense’s objection to the introduction of thirty-three autopsy photos by the State.

Dionicio Torres, Sr. is to be arraigned in County Court #2 before the Honorable Judge Jesus “Chuy” Garza this coming Monday, March 19th at 8am.
He is charged with Two Counts of Deceptive Business Practices. The charge stems from allegations from two individuals who claim they paid the defendant over one-hundred-forty-thousand dollars to construct a barbecue restaurant in Laredo. They claim that the defendant took their money but failed to construct the building.

The Office of District Attorney Isidro R. Alaniz reports that the victim in The State of Texas v. Jose Arturo Vergara testified again today and described to jurors the events that led to the criminal charges.

(Laredo, Tx)-All Webb County administrative offices will be closed Monday, February 20 in observance of President’s Day. Included in the holiday closure is the Webb County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office. The Webb County Sheriff’s Department Administrative Offices will also be closed. All emergency services will be available.

The Office of District Attorney Isidro R. Alaniz reports that Firefighter Ricardo Trevino has entered a guilty plea in the 341st District Court. Trevino, whose criminal trial began on Monday of this week, is the owner of Chiro Health Clinic and was charged with having defrauded Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company of close to two hundred thousand dollars in fraudulent claims.
