Texas A&M International University College of Arts and Sciences Center for the Fine and Performing Arts presents the 4th Annual Texas A&M International University Juried Students’ Art Exhibit. The exhibit will present artwork by TAMIU students and will include paintings, photos, and installations. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be on display in the CFPA Gallery from April 2 through April 16. Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday, 12 – 5 p.m. or by appointment. Students interested in majoring in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematical Sciences (CSEMS) at Texas A&M International University, there is still time to apply for undergraduate or graduate annual scholarships. The National Science Foundation (NSF) provides the annual scholarships in the amount of $3,125 for undergraduates and $6,250 for graduates. If you are currently a full-time student at TAMIU with major in the aforementioned fields, submit an application to our NSF S-STEM Mathematics and Engineering Best (ME-Best) Program. Registration is now underway at Texas A&M International University for “Using Access to Create Databases,” a non-credit course, designed for managers, professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to use Microsoft Access in the most efficient way for day-to-day business tasks. The course is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. in Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 221. Tuition for the course is $250 per participant and $200 for TAMIU employees, students and alumni. Register by calling Cindy Martinez, program coordinator, at 326.2486 or by e-mailing cindy@tamiu.edu.

Former Laredoan Sylvia Hazlerig will present her own compositions in a concert performance at Texas A&M International University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall today at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge and open to the public. Latin American Studies Week begins today with Writing with Light/Escritura con Luz, a collaboration between photography and TAMIU Spanish students poetry writing. The exhibit opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the Student Center Upstairs Rotunda. Latin American Studies Week continues with guest speaker, Dr. Patricia MacGregor-Mendoza presenting “The Bilingual Voice in the Workplace” from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Student Center Theater, room SC 236.
