         Downtown burglars caught in the act!

On Thursday, October 30, 2008, at approximately 11:29 pm., Laredo Police Officers were successful in arresting 2 suspects, Patricio Soto, age 30, date of birth 10-03-78, and Ramiro Morales Ramirez, age 22, date of birth 04-28-86, for burglary of a building at the Diamond Shoe Store located by 1118 Zaragoza Street. The investigation revealed that police officers heard an audible alarm coming from the shoe store, as they approached the next street they observed one male suspect later identified as Ramiro Morales Ramirez exiting from the inside a basement delivery metal hatch door by 1113 Grant Street. This business has the front address by 1118 Zaragoza Street, and the back/exit door on the 1113 Grant Street. Another suspect, later identified as Patricio Soto, was located inside the shoe store. One box containing several recovered items about to be taken out from the shoe store. The items recovered were; 3 cash boxes, 3 computer monitors, and 1 lap top. Furthermore, defendant Patricio Soto voluntary admitted that he had some cash from the business stashed by an abandoned house on 305 Santa Rita Avenue. The property and the stolen cash were recovered and given back to the store owner.

The suspects were arrested and charged with Burglary of a business State Jail Felony and Theft Class A Misdemeanor and later remanded to Laredo Webb County Jail.
