United High School Junior Selected for NASA Summer Internship

(Laredo, Texas)-Cassandra Martinez, a junior at United High School, was selected to attend an all-expenses paid summer internship at NASA’s Johnson Space Center as part of the High School Aerospace Scholars program (HAS). Martinez will tour NASA facilities and spend a week participating in team projects and briefings directed by NASA engineers and scientists. She will also be involved in hands-on design challenges and engineering activities that are tied into a planned mission to Mars. During the school year, Cassandra participated in interactive lessons on NASA activities related to space exploration, earth science, technology and aeronautics, design challenges such as 3D drawing, video creation, interactive poster design, and virtual chats with NASA engineers and scientists.
