CBP Officers Seize Over $3 Million in Narcotics at the Laredo Port of Entry

LAREDO, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged methamphetamine carrying an estimated street value of more than $3 million in one enforcement action.
“Our CBP officers remain vigilant and continue to protect our nation from dangerous narcotics from entering our country,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “The narcotics that were seized this weekend are the kind that have been devastating the most vulnerable members of our communities.”
The seizure occurred on Saturday, June 17 at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2011 Ford F-150 driven by a 22-year-old male United States citizen for a secondary examination. A non-intrusive imaging (NII) system and canine inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 196 pounds allegedly containing liquid methamphetamine with a street value of $3,916,251.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle. The driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 were arrested and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
