Students at Centenoville, a small city inside Centeno Elementary School, celebrated their 2nd annual grand opening of their minitropolis program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was held on December 15, 2016. During the event, actual Commerce Bank employees inducted new student “employees,” who recently received bank training and had the opportunity to meet Commerce Bank President and CEO Ignacio Urrabazo, Jr., prior to the ribbon cutting event.

“The Centenoville minitropolis program provides a motivating learning environment for students and reinforces the importance of financial literacy among our future generations,” said Urrabazo. “Commerce Bank is committed to empowering and educating today’s youth with relevant, practical experiences and we are proud to continue to sponsor this wonderful program.”

Commerce Bank will continue to work closely with Centeno Elementary School school staff on the minitropolis project. Commerce Bank is also the main sponsor for the minitropolis program at Arndt Elementary School which is called “Arndtville.” Arndtville has been in existence since 2009.
