Dr. Monte Allen Scholarship Awarded

(Laredo, Texas)- Mrs. Amy Allen and Dr. Elsa S. Canales recently presented the first “Dr. Monte D. Allen Memorial Scholarship” at a social gathering. This year, the scholarship was given to Kathryn E. Lopez, a 2016 graduate from J.B. Alexander High School. Lopez will attend the University of Texas A&M this Fall.
The beloved Dr. Monte D. Allen was a Board Certified Gastroenterologist who worked in Laredo for almost 20 years. He embraced the Laredo community and was a great supporter of Laredo’s youth. Dr. Allen leaves an amazing legacy of love and passion for medicine and admiration for people. He was well known as a strong advocate of teaching others about the field he loved so very much.
