Johnson High School (LBJHS),signed a scholarship to continue her education and basketball career at Morthland College in West Frankfort, Illinois. During an UISD Insider interview, Barrientos expressed warmhearted sentiments for her former teammates.
“My greatest satisfaction came from playing the game with some great athletes who were driven by the spirit of teamwork, which is something that I strongly believe in”, said Barrientos. She also said that the experience of playing with a united team helped her grow and inspired her to further develop her skills.
LBJHS basketball coach Lee Gignac praised Barrientos as a dedicated student on and off the basketball court. “I encourage Brandy to seize every opportunity to grow not only as an athlete, but also as a student” said Gignac. Barrientos thanked her family for their support and also recognized former coaches Ruby Charles and Robert Burrier for helping her accomplish so much as a Lady Wolf basketball player.
