Man Found Guilty of Interfering with Public Duties

(Laredo, Texas)-The Office of the District Attorney reports a guilty verdict for Aldo Israel Gonzalez, 40, who was charged with interfering with public duties in connection to a traffic stop conducted by a DPS trooper.
On June 9, 2012, a vehicle was traveling at a high rate speed and ran the red light at the intersection of Meadow and Saunders. A DPS trooper pulled the vehicle over and while questioning the driver if she had been drinking, the passenger identified as Aldo Israel Gonzalez stepped out of the vehicle and asked the trooper to let them go. After several attempts in instructing Gonzalez to get back in the vehicle, he finally complied. While performing field sobriety tests on the driver, Gonzalez continued interfering by walking to the trooper and becoming confrontational. Gonzalez was arrested that night and charged with interfering with public duties, a Class B misdemeanor in the State of Texas.
The trial, which took place before visiting Judge Ronald Carr in the County Court at Law I, was heard by six jurors over the course of three days, who handed down their guilty verdict after an hour of deliberation.
Assistant District Attorneys Javier Guzman, Rene Benavides and Linda Garza-Martinez prosecuted the case for the State.
