Sheriff Deputies arrest man on Indecency with a Child charges

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – A Rio Bravo man is behind bars on Indecency with a Child charges after allegedly abusing a family member.
A 911 call to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office alerted deputies that a teen had reportedly been sexually abused by a relative. When deputies arrived to the home on the 1500 block of Orquidia in Rio Bravo, Texas, the victim’s older brother said his 13-year-old sister was being touched inappropriately by their family member. The brother states the sexual assault had been going on for several years. He alleges their relative fondled the sister and committed other sexual acts. The suspect’s wife, who arrived at the home shortly thereafter, was asked on the whereabouts of her husband but she refused to cooperate. Deputies were able to speak to the suspect, Juan Carlos Zapata, 32, via cell phone and he met up with authorities regarding the accusations.
Zapata is being charged with Indecency with a Child Sexual Contact, Felony 2 and remains without bond at the Webb County Jail. His wife, Yuliana Landa, was arrested for Interference with Public Duties. She was released on a $1,000 bond.
