Finley Elementary Songbird Hits a High Note!

Mariely Guadiana, a 5th grade student at Finley Elementary School, traveled to Miami, Florida during the week of August 25th, 2014 to compete in a singing competition hosted by television personality Don Francisco on Univision’s weekly Sabado Gigante program. Ms. Guadiana competed against two other performers and won the top prize of $1,000.00 for her rendition of “Cucuru Cucu Paloma”.
Her winning performance is scheduled for broadcast on Saturday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m. on the Univision television channel. Mariely says she is saving her prize money for her college education.
Mariely has been singing since she was seven years old, and joined the Finley Elementary Choir (under the direction of Diego Garcia), during the 2013-2014 school year. The budding vocal star says that Garcia has helped her become an even better singer. “I also want to thank Ms. Naomi Trad for helping me develop my singing skills at the start and my parents Cynthia Ayala and Baldemar Guadiana for their love and support”, said Mariely .
