End of School Year is quickly approaching which means proms are near!
(Laredo, Tx)-United ISD is hosting Prom Project 2014, dedicated to collecting formal dress attire, new or gently used, to help high school students prepare for prom.
Individuals have an opportunity to donate new or gently used formal dresses and suits to our students who may not have the means to purchase formal wear in order to attend prom. The donated gowns, suits and/or ties may be gently used or new, but in good condition.
UISD has partnered with several local entities to offer students from low/moderate income families the opportunity to make this possible. The Goodwill Store of Laredo is offering our students the opportunity to purchase formal wear at a discounted price. Dresses and suits may be bought for a set price of $10 dollars including dresses from “Julia’s Attic,” (stores high brand items). Holguin Cleaners is offering a discounted dry-cleaning price for the donated dresses and suits. Carlos Salinas from Charlie’s Angels Beauty Salon & Spa is providing 12 students (3 per high school) free hair dues and make-up for prom night.
We have collected about 70 dresses, 20 suits donations and 20 ties. The UISD Prom Project will continue through April 20th. You may drop off dresses, suits & ties to United ISD Main Office at 201 Lindenwood Dr., Laredo Texas.
