VMT Magnet School to hold Annual Voters Registration Drive

The Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts will be hosting their annual voters registration drive at all LISD high schools next week to register eligible students to vote. The Registration Drive will kick off on Monday, September 23, in observance with National Voter Registration Day.
The first drive will be held at the VMT Recital Hall on Monday at 8:30 a.m. The Magnet School faculty will then visit Nixon High School at 10:15 a.m. The drive continues on Tuesday, September 24, at Cigarroa High School at 9:00 a.m. and Martin High School at 2:30 pm. On Wednesday, eligible student at the Early College High School will have an opportunity to register to vote at 8:45 a.m.
The registration drive has become an annual event for VMT, where the school’s faculty encourages local youth to learn about the democratic process and the importance of voting.
“The registration drive is being held to promote citizenship, the power of one voice, and to celebrate and honor our basic rights and freedoms as guaranteed by our constitution,” said Dr. Martha Villarreal, VMT Director.
